I'm Chris Craine, a freelance designer, art director, and concept artist. I work primarily in the Motion Picture industry but love to tackle any creative project.
Growing up in a small town in Ohio, I was very fond of Legos, the Star Wars universe, and making 8mm films. I greatly admired Steven Spielberg and was captivated by the worlds of Monty Python and James Bond. It's this spark from my childhood that fuels my fervor for the Film Industry today.
After earning a Master's Degree in Architecture from the University of Southern California, I worked my way through Film and Television Art Departments beginning as an assistant, gaining vital experience in how these departments function and learning how films get made. I’m proud to say I’ve been able to make my living doing what I love. Some of my career milestones include art directing films by Hollywood legends David Fincher and Clint Eastwood and being a part of award winning teams. Most recently, I have become dual-craft in Local 800 as an Illustrator.
Designing stories and weaving fantasy into reality is my true passion. I'm a firm believer that superior film design not only complements but elevates the storytelling process, with each story demanding its own unique artistic solution. Inspired by Vitruvius, I believe that outstanding design arises at the intersection of structure, function, and aesthetics. To this trio, I'd add the transformative power of light—its ability to modulate mood and ambiance. In every creation, I strive to harmoniously represent these principles.
Alongside filmmaking and design, I prioritize making new life stories by traveling abroad, immersing myself in different cultures, going on snowboarding and boating trips, and spending quality time with my fiancé, Britt, and my dog, Kitty.
Don't hesistate to reach out, I'd love to explore any potential collaborations!
